May is BPD Awareness Month: Let’s Take Action
What will you do to spread awareness and decrease the stigma and misinformation?
This month, I am challenging everyone to take action in breaking the stigma, raising awareness of BPD, and debunking the myths that have long been attached to the diagnosis. I continue to be amazed at how many professionals still hold onto the stigma and myths of BPD. It’s time that we all work to move beyond these misconceptions and toward greater awareness and compassion. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or education. We do not have a shortage of either; therefore, there should be no reason to claim ignorance when it comes to BPD and the facts, not the myths, behind this diagnosis.
I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to BPD Alliance Borderline Personality Disorder: Symptoms, Treatment & Family Support | BPD Alliance - BPD Alliance for their ongoing commitment to advocacy, education, and support for individuals and families impacted by BPD. Their efforts continue to play a vital role in reducing stigma and expanding access to accurate, compassionate information.
Don’t miss this month’s live webinar! You’re Not Alone: BPD Live Q&A with DBT-LBC Clinicians - BPD Alliance. I’ll be joining a panel of DBT-LBC clinicians for an interactive Q&A on BPD, answering your questions and helping break the stigma.

My challenge to everyone reading this: identify at least one way you can help spread awareness about the facts of BPD and educate those who may still be operating from misinformation. There is power in numbers. If all of us take action within our local communities and personal networks, we can and will make a meaningful difference for those impacted by the stigma that BPD continues to carry.
